Arcera lies on the eastern side of central Italy,between the Adriatic Sea and the high Appennine mountains and much of it remains unspoilt by the ravages of mass tourism. It is closed to the provincial capital of Ascoli Piceno which is one of the most elegant squares in central Italy,Piazza del Popolo.The squared is closed off to traffic and is home to the famous Caffe' Meletti (1907) and others restaurants. In Ascoli Piceno you can see La Quintana ,Ascoli's jousting tournament,which is one of the most authentic and exciting of Medieval shows in the Marche,and takes place in the main square on the first Sundey of August.The high point of the games is when riders from the city's six districts tilt with lances for the target.
